There is often a quiet longing that goes unspoken - a wish to sing, to learn, or to reconnect with Carnatic music as a source of steadiness, meaning, and calm.

Sometimes it is a parent quietly concerned about an adolescent’s connection to Carnatic music, or an adult returning to singing after a pause. Sometimes it is a teen who has struggled in past classes, feeling compared or uncertain. Sometimes it is a serious learner seeking a deeper, reflective engagement with music, or an emerging performer navigating creative blocks, performance anxiety, or burnout, hoping for support and understanding as they find their voice.

 

At Samarpana, I begin not with instruction, but with attentive listening.

I invite you to a personal, one-to-one online orientation — a gentle, 45-minute meeting where we explore whether this path feels right for you or your teen.

​

During our time together, I will : 

• Listen to your intentions, aspirations, and areas of curiosity

• Understand your previous musical experiences and journey so far

• Engage with your voice, phrasing, and tonal awareness, offering exercises or guidance that align with your musical path

• Reflect on the pace, depth, and approach to learning or practice that may best support you

• Offer observations and guidance tailored to your current abilities, goals, and holistic musical developent

There is no expectation of perfection. This is not an audition, a test, or a performance, and there is no obligation to enroll. While acceptance into the pathways is based on mutual fit and readiness to commit, this session is simply a space to be seen, heard, and understood.​

The Three Pathways at Samarpana

Each learner’s journey unfolds in its own rhythm. At Samarpana, I offer three thoughtfully held pathways, each designed to meet you where you are :

​

• The Alignment Path (ages 13+) — For returning learners seeking to rebuild confidence, reconnect with fundamentals, and strengthen foundational clarity.

• The Immersion Path (ages 18+)  — For adult learners wishing to explore music at a deeper, reflective level, going beyond technique into the inner life of rāga and sahitya.

• The Companion Path (emerging performers, ages 18+)— For emerging performers navigating creative blocks, burnout, or performance anxiety, offering a supportive, non-judgmental space to reconnect with their art.

At Samarpana, music is a path of the heart. My role is not to steer you toward a single outcome, but to hold your journey with attention, devotion, and care, so that every step, however small or expansive, feels supported and meaningful.
